Shutter tragedies

We distribute Storm Stoppers® exclusively through our home office in Orlando and our authorized dealers. We do not sell Storm Stoppers through Lowe’s, Home Depot or any other “big box” home improvement chain. The way you can differentiate Storm Stoppers® from hurricane protection products that are sold at those chains is our patented 3M Dual Lock™ fastening system. 3M Dual Lock is exclusive to Storm Stoppers and we do not sell Storm Stoppers with any other fastening system.

The reason we do not sell Storm Stoppers with bolts or screws is that “bolt on shutters” are hard to install, heavy and dangerous. Bolt on shutter systems are dangerous, since bolt on shutters inhibit safe exit from window exits in an emergency. Since 1998, almost a dozen homeowners have died when they were trapped in fires. Read Hurricane Shutter Tragedies to see these tragic news stories. In contrast, a homeowner can easily remove Storm Stoppers from the inside of a home in an emergency!

Storm Stoppers is the first and only storm window protection company that encourages homeowners to cut and install our hurricane window protection product themselves. Thanks to our informative installation videos on the home page, you can see how easy Storm Stoppers are to cut and install yourself. No power tools are necessary and the basic installation tools such as a carpet knife, spring clamps and a straight edge can be purchased at any Ace Hardware Store or home improvement center for under $25.

Please call the Storm Stoppers® Home Office below for information on how to receive a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) or professional installation Quote. We offer installation services in parts of Florida, Louisiana & South Carolina. Thank you.
